The name “Tinto de Verano” translates into English as “Red Wine of Summer.” Basically this is the equivalent of summer in a glass (if summer was made of red wine and lemon lime soda).

This is a drink that I first tried when I lived in Southern Spain. It's very similar to sangria, but without the super boozy punch. It's extremely refreshing on a hot day and really easy to make, as it only has two ingredients.

As always, thanks for reading!

Most folks think of sangria when they think of Spanish drinks, but I assure you, this is what the locals drink.

Mix the following over ice.

1/2 cup red wine (I went with an inexpensive Merlot)

1/2 cup of soda of your choice.

This recipe can be scaled up very easily in order to make several servings.

The variations are as follows:

- Sprite, 7 Up, or Lemon Fanta, if you want it sweet, known as Tinto con Limon -

- Cola, if you like it less sweet, Known as Tinto con Casera -

Garnish with a lemon slice and enjoy.
