Fabric Covered Light Switch Plate

Fabric is not just used for crafting and sewing, it can actually be used as part of dressing up something very unusual, like this light switch plate, for instance. Drab to fab, this switch plate has been fabricated in all of its creative glory! This makes a great addition to any room in the house looking to add some color and flair!
Materials

To make this, you will need:
- a light switch plate (old or new); here I am using my mother's light switch plate; she wanted me to give it a complete makeover
- a piece of your favorite fabric (I am using a piece of leftover home decor fabric)
- screwdriver
- Mod Podge
- craft knife
- cutting mat
- foam brush or large paint brush
- large clips / binder clips (not shown)
Getting Started

First, remove the switch plate with a screwdriver, making sure to save the screw for later when you put the plate back on. Also, make sure that you wipe off any dust and grime that might be on the back of the plate.
From there, choose your favorite piece of fabric that is slightly bigger than the actual size of your switch plate.
Cut to Size

Next, cut the fabric to size, leaving about 1 inch around so you'll have enough to wrap around the back.
Add Mod Podge

Put a layer of Mod Podge along the inner edges of the plate, and press it onto the back of the fabric. You might also want to secure in place with clips.
Trim

Then, place the plate upside down on your cutting mat, and carefully cut out the middle piece of fabric with your craft knife.
From that point, carefully cut an X in the center of each screw hole. Once you're done with that, leave the plate to dry overnight.
Final Touches and Rescrew

If they're any empty spaces om your switch plate, like in this final result here, you can fill that area with whatever you want! Be creative! Here, I've hand-drawn some abstracted shapes on this piece of leftover home decor fabric with puff paint so that it can relate to the overall design! Leave everything to dry, then re-screw the plate over your light switch using your screwdriver, and it's done!
