DIY Halloween Cat

In this Instructable, I will try and show you how I made a Black Cat decoration for Halloween. This is a easy project to make with simple hand tools and limited materials. Get your kids involved , by letting them be creative with the design and paint. But make sure that a adult uses the Jigsaw.

I have also included a Video of me making this.

You will need:

Pallet boards or plywood

Jigsaw

Black Spray Paint

Glow in the Dark Craft Paint

Paint brush

Drill with a 3/8" drill bit

Hot glue Gun

Lights from the Dollar store

6" long nails

3/4" Staples

Scissors

Black paper or a pattern

Hammer

pencil and Black marker

Boards

Either glue up some old pallet boards, or use a piece of plywood.

Pattern

I printed out some black paper and drew me a image of a cat that I wanted to make. Then cut it out with Scissors. Then I traced the image with a Pencil and a Black marker.

If you are not good at drawing, do a search on Google for Cat silhouettes, maybe you will find something that you like.

Jigsaw Time

Once you have trace the image onto the board, now is time to Jigsaw out your pattern. When using a Jigsaw, take your time and let the saw do the work, don't force it.

Paint Time

Now is time to paint the Cat, I used some Black spray paint. After that dried, I used some Glow in the Dark craft paint for the eyes and some pink for the nose.

Note you will have to put several coats of the Glow in the Dark paint, allow drying in between coats.

Attach Hardware

Now flip your Cat onto the back side, and attached the 6" long nails with the 3/4" Staples with the hammer.

Note you want at least half the length of the nails, hanging below the bottom, as shown in the pictures.

Lights

Now flip the piece back over, and drill two 3/8" holes into the center of the eyes. Flip over and attached the Dollar store lights with Hot Glue as shown in the pictures.

Now stick the Black Cat in the ground and enjoy, now wait for darkness and turn on the lights.
